Arsenal winger Gervinho has completed a £7 million move to Roma to link up in the Italian capital with his former boss at Lille Rudi Garcia.
The Ivorian forward failed to convince in his two season at the Emirates since his £10.8 million switch in 2011. He made a total of 63 first-team appearances for the Gunners and scored 11 goals in all competitions.
Last term the 26-year-old was given a chance as a centre-forward but in his 18 Premier League appearances he managed just 5 goals and 3 assists for the North Londoners.
1) Viktor Fischer
The 19-year-old Dane has come through the ranks at Ajax to prove himself a talented and exciting prospect for the future. He scored an impressive 12 goals and made 6 assists in all competitions, predominantly from the left flank and, at his age, he’s only going to improve as he matures and develops.
2) Kevin Volland
The 21-year-old Germany U21 forward scored 6 goals and made 12 assists for Hoffenheim last term. Regarded as a hot prospect for the future of the national team, he can play as a winger, a striker or as a second striker.
3) Lorenzo Insigne
This 22-year-old Italian scored against Arsenal for Napoli in the Emirates Cup and has a very bright future ahead of him. He scored 5 goals and made 7 assists in Serie A last term and can play as a winger or secondary striker.
4) Romain Alessandrini
Highly-rated over in Arsene Wenger’s native France, the 24-year-old winger managed 10 goals and 6 assists in Ligue 1 last term with Stade Rennais. He’s exactly the kind of protégé I’d expect the Gunners boss to have in his sights.
5) Kevin Grosskreutz
The 25-year-old left winger has found it hard to break into Borussia Dortmund’s team on a regular basis, despite his talent and potential. He scored 2 goals and made 7 assists in all competitions last term but given regular access to first-team action, he could be exactly the kind of player the Gunners need.
6) Callum McManaman
Closer to home there’s Wigan’s highly-rated 22-year old winger Callum McManaman who stood out last term helping his side to FA Cup glory. An iffy tackle or two aside, his energy and dynamism really set him apart. He’s definitely one to keep an eye on for the future.
7) Ibrahim Afellay
For more experienced option, Barcelona’s wantaway Dutchman would likely be easy to lure to the Emirates. The 27-year-old winger spent last season on loan at Schalke where he was fairly unproductive but he could very well be keen to impress and make his return to form at a club like Arsenal.
8) Georginio Wijnaldum
The 22-year-old Dutchman was on fire for PSV last term, scoring 20 goals and making 8 assists in all competitions, depoyed predominantly in attacking midfield. After signing from Feyenoord in 2011, the youngster's contract goes into it's final year next summer and he could very well be tempted to switch to the Emirates.
9) Florian Thauvin
Another emerging Ligue 1 starlet is Lille youngster Florian Thauvin. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder plays either as a midfielder or a wideman and has scored 10 goals and made 3 assists on loan at Bastia last term. He has previously been linked with a move to the Emirates before signing for Lille in January for a fee of around €3.5 million which is still well within Wenger’s price-range.
If Wenger can be tempted to put his hand a little deeper into his pockets, Arsenal could perhaps lure Nani away from Old Trafford. The Portuguese was heavily linked with a move to Monaco but that move seems to have simmered down of late. He has entered the final year of his contract this summer and the Red Devils will be reluctant to lose him on a free transfer next year.
