Lyon have continued to raise funds and slash their wage budget this summer. On Thursday the latest name to join the list of outgoing from the Stade Gerland was Lisandro Lopez. The Argentine forward will complete his move to Qatari outfit Al-Gharafah imminently.
The Doha side are currently coached by Brazilian legend Zico, and have the likes of Brazilian former PSG star Nene and Australian stalwart Mark Bresciano amongst their current squad - so Lisandro will be in illustrious company.
Lyon are essentially allowing some of their players on large pay-packets, such as Anthony Reveillere, Michel Bastos, Dejan Lovren, Yoann Gourcuff and Bafetimbi Gomis leave the club. In the meanwhile they are bringing in players like Gael Danic and Miguel Lopes - who command much less in terms of salary.
Now they will look to strengthen their attacking options this summer with a similar kind of player - one very familiar to English football fans.
Jeremie Aliadiere was always a talented footballer, of that there was never any doubt. However he certainly was never the luckiest of players.
But after a year out he returned fully fighting fit, and with a suspiciously regrown amount of hair atop his cranium.
Since then he has gone on to highlight just how talented he actually once was, when picked up by Arsene Wenger.
This summer has however been complex for the player. Amid false claims of going on strike and suggestions he is forcing a move from current outfit Lorient, he has also suffered a slight knee injury - which thankfully does not seem to be serious.
But now he is the subject of transfer interest from Lyon.
Marseille and St Etienne have also been mentioned as carrying a torch for the player. But with Lisandro Lopez gone, it is believed that Lyon could be ready to bring him in to the club to add coverage to their offensive options.
Despite asserting earlier in the summer that an attacking option was not on their radar - that was before Lisandro departed the club.
Now it is believed that Aliadiere is being sought in the Argentine's absence - which would present him with the opportunity of possibly facing off against his old employers in the Champions League proper, should both qualify this summer.
A remarkable turnaround for a player whose career appeared to be over just three years ago.
