Everton latest: Including £7m for Marrone, Alderweireld interest and 'no bids' for star duo

News and gossip from the past few days at Goodison Park.

Roberto Martinez has moved to dismiss the idea that Manchester United have made a new improved approach for Marouane Fellaini.

The new Everton boss stated:

"There are no bids. When you read that someone is interested in someone, it doesn't mean there is a bid on the table. Marouane has been working really hard and that's all that matters. Headlines in the media happen at this time of the season unfortunately but it won't distract me from the work we have to do. I'm not bothered at all. It is speculation in the media and you'll never stop that.’’

Reports this morning however beg to differ - suggesting United are readying a joint bid of £30 million for both Fellaini and Leighton Baines.

Everton have unveiled their brand new away kit for the upcoming season. Designed by Nike the new strip harks back to the clubs traditional implementation of yellow in their away kit - with a striking butter like colour on the top and dominating the socks - with royal blue shorts.

Everton are said to be interested in Toby Alderweireld this week. The Ajax defender has long been linked with the clubs city rivals Liverpool but it now appears that The Toffees could jump in with a bid for the player.

Norwich City have recently had a bid for the player accepted so he is not considered out of Everton’s price range.

Everton lost to Valencia this week - a 1-0 defeat in Miami.

Everton played well, as they did against Juventus and Real Madrid but could not put away any of their chances.

The tie was decided with a goal from Michel Herrero.

Everton chief Robert Elstone has made it clear that Everton fans will decide the future of the clubs crest.

The latest design was met with widespread condemnation when it was first unveiled this summer and Elstone will allow a bigger say to fans in the decision of how the crest should look for 2014-15.

Everton have been told to stump up £7 million if they want to sign Juventus midfielder Luca Marrone this summer. The club have recently been linked with the 23-year-old, but only on a loan deal.

Juventus would rather sell the player and now Everton know his price.

Finally, and despite concerns over his future, Roberto Martinez is backing Nikica Jelavic to be n integral part of the Everton team this season:

"Niki is a goalscorer. When you see him scoring goals again it’s because he’s enjoying his football. He’s been working really hard and physically he still has a little bit to get to 90 minutes. But it’s great to see Nikica coming back with that focus and desire to score goals and be himself. When you can score goals in the manner he has done he is going to be an incredible asset for us.’’
