Liverpool transfer news: Rafa wants Skrtel, Costa move in doubt

A round up of the latest transfer stories connected to Liverpool.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to let Martin Skrtel leave the club for the right price.

Rafael Benitez is thought to be very interested in signing the Slovakian for Napoli. His future has been in doubt ever since he questioned Brendan Rodgers’ decision to drop him during last season.

Liverpool appear to be holding out for a fee of £12 million, which could create a tug of war between the two clubs over price.

Diego Costa says he is in no rush to complete a transfer to Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have been linked with a £21 million move for the forward but he’s said he’s happy to stay at Atletico Madrid for as long as he’s wanted and needed.

“I'm well here, I'm happy here - I'm happy here, if the club want me to be here, I'm going to be here - I think that the coach (Diego Simeone) counts on all of us, not just me. He knows how important it is to maintain the squad,” said Costa.

Liverpool will sell Stewart Downing for a fee of £5 million according to latest reports.

Liverpool signed Downing for £20 million from Aston Villa and he seemed to have saved his Anfield career with some solid performances over the second half of last season.

However, Brendan Rodgers seemingly sees him as surplus to requirements which has prompted the reports. Newcastle United are the most notable of the sides apparently interested in signing him.
