Gareth Bale is not for sale. Andre Villas-Boas has reiterated the stance that the only talks between both clubs so far has been Tottenham telling Real that he is not for sale:
‘’I think the rumours that anything is imminent are not true. We've allowed ourselves conversations with Real Madrid, confirmed by their coach I think wrongly, but the only thing we've communicated is that the player is our player and not for sale.’’
Clint Dempsey has completed his move away from Tottenham Hotspur. The American was rumoured to be on the way out of the club this summer after Nacer Chadli was signed from FC Twente.
Now his exit has been confirmed after Tottenham Hotspur agreed a fee with Major League Soccer - believed to be around £6 million.
He will play for Seattle Sounders in the American North-West.
Spurs have been in action this weekend - but were pasted by Monaco 5-2. The club had some injury problems, including those that developed when Jermain Defoe limped off, and Zeki Fryers and Jake Livermore were asked to play at centre-back.
Harry Kane and Andros Townsend bagged their goals.
There have been some interesting developments regarding the attempt to sign Vlad Chiriches from Steaua Bucharest - after it was revealed a deal for the player was called off from PRISON.
Steaua chairman Gigi Becali is currently behind bars for misuse of political power and used his phone-call that day to pull the plug on a deal.
Jermain Defoe has been linked with a move to QPR this summer. Defoe has worked with The Hoops boss Harry Redknapp with three other teams and could reportedly be convinced by his former boss. The rumours came after these comments from the former Spurs gaffer:
“I am going to put together a team that will excite people. I am trying to bring players in who will blow people’s minds. I have got the backing of the board to do that, and we are moving on from last season.”
