The latest transfer news from Anfield this morning.
Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that the club will only consider selling star striker Luis Suarez for a Bale-like fee this summer.
The Uruguayan, who has been linked with Arsenal, was given a warm reception at yesterday’s Steven Gerrard testimonial:
‘’So far we have had two bids from one club that are nowhere near our valuation. Every player in the world has a valuation but people have been speaking about nine figures for Bale, and Bale and Suarez were regarded as the best players in the League last season. You can’t say Bale is worth more than 100 per cent more than Luis Suarez.’’
So far Arsenal have made two bids for the player and neither came close to the astronomical figures Real Madrid are said to be readying for the Welshman - a move that Arsene Wenger has called a ‘joke’.
Liverpool transfer target Christian Eriksen has reiterated his stance that he wants to leave Ajax. The Dane has been linked with several clubs this summer - with Liverpool just one of the teams chasing his coveted signature.
While he remains happy to play for Ajax for the rest of this month he has made it clear that an exit is his priority this summer.
AC Milan were recently installed as the favourites to sign him, but their pursuit of Adem Ljajic and Keisuke Honda suggests they will not be making a move for the player.
Liverpool will reportedly triple the wages of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa - should he make the move to Anfield.
The Brazilian is currently on €1 million at Los Colchoneros but it is reported he could earn up to €4 million should he become a Liverpool player this summer.
The Reds reportedly met his buy-out clause last week and the naturalised Spanish citizen would have no problem gaining a Work Permit to play in the UK.
