Who needs Higuain when we’ve got Giroud? - Wonderful bicycle kick gives Arsenal draw

Giroud Arsenal

Gonzalo Higuain made his debut for Napoli at The Emirates today - but it was Olivier Giroud who stole the show.

Chim Chimney Chim Chimney Chim Chim Choo Roo, who needs Anelka when we’ve got Kanu.

I remember hearing that song sang a lot at Highbury when Nicolas Anelka move to Real Madrid - and now the song can be attributed to yet another player involved in a Real Madrid transfer this summer.

Napoli faced Arsenal today at The Emirates in the Emirates Cup. But while the mouth-watering prospect of seeing these two great teams go toe-to-toe might have been enough for some people, most that is.

However others were more interested in the side-show - the Higuain attraction.

The Argentine was making his debut for the Partenopei this evening - but started from the bench.

When he entered the fray at half-time the score was 2-0 to the Italian outfit - thanks to goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Goran Pandev.

The final score was 2-2 with Laurent Koscielny scoring a late equaliser and the other goal coming courtesy of the man Higuain would have done battle with in the striking department.

Frenchman Olivier Giroud bagged the goal.

He has had an excellent pre-season so far - banging in the goals on the clubs pre-season tour of Asia.

And he continued that excellent form by scoring this exceptional bicycle kick to bring Arsenal back into the tie.

There was a stroke of luck with a deflection sending the ball goalwards - but the degree of athleticism involved should not be shirked at.

Here is the goal in question…
