Gary Hooper scored twice against SC Braga yesterday evening.
Norwich City continued their rather drab pre-season last night - drawing 2-2 with Portuguese outfit SC Braga in Portugal.
It marked yet another draw for The Canaries - who have now drawn two and lost two of their five pre-season fixtures.
But while the results may not be coming in the way they might have hoped this summer there was certainly a positive to take from last night’s result.
Summer signing Gary Hooper made his impact last night - bagging a brace against the Champions League regulars.
Hooper has been a long term target for Chris Hughton - who failed with several bids for the player in the January transfer window.
This summer however Celtic relented, agreeing to sell the striker to Carrow Road in a deal believed to be worth £5 million to the SPL outfit.
Hooper’s main reason for a Premier League switch is to improve his hopes of selection for England. At 25-years-old he is certainly still young enough to make it into the fold - with the dream surely to be on the plane to Brazil next summer.
There is no doubt in my mind that if Hooper plays to the best of his ability he can score 25 goals plus next term - which would surely be enough to earn him Three Lions selection.
And judging by his predatory strikes from yesterday evening, it seems he is ready to take up the challenge of firing Norwich City up the Premier League table in 2013-14 … and gain a place in the England fold in the process.
