Pre-teen talent flies in from USA to train with Real Madrid’s Alevin A team for a season…
Precocious talent Joshua Pynadath, 11, of Los Altos Hills, California, has such a skill level that it not only belies his age but also attracts the attention of Europe's best football clubs.
La Liga heavyweights Barcelona and Real Madrid both took an interest in Pynadath but the burgeoning forward had his sights set on only one club, Real, so he could get a closer look at how to imitate his footballing idol - Cristiano Ronaldo, who has found the net 201 times from 199 appearances.
'I was blown away when I got the official news from Real Madrid,' Pynadath is quoted by Los Altos Online to have said. 'They told me that I was the first American that they have ever accepted into their academy. I told them that I would set a good example.
'I was really excited to get the news that Real Madrid was inviting me back for a [second] trial. That meant there could be a real chance for me to make the actual Real Madrid academy team.
'I received another surprise when I found out that Barcelona was interested in taking a look at me as well.'
His mother Jackie will make the year-long move, also. Joshua will attend the American School of Madrid to coincide with his education in soccer.
