Despite apparently ruling themselves out of the running earlier this summer, fresh reports have emerged linking Real Madrid with a move for Luis Suarez.
The story comes from the Daily Star, who claim the Spanish club are planning to bring in both Suarez and Gareth Bale this summer, potentially leading to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Old Trafford return.
There are a lot of what ifs in the report, and yet it is no secret the Uruguayan favours a move to the Bernabeu, despite Arsenal’s £40million-plus-loose-change offer.
Speaking of the Gunners, it is being claimed Suarez is considering handing in a transfer request and seeking legal advice should his move to the Emirates not be sanctioned. However if Real are genuinely interested, that may swiftly be forgotten.
From a player almost certainly leaving to one who seemingly never will.
Steven Gerrard has revealed that he turned down a move to a Champions League club last season – reported in some quarters as being Bayern Munich.
“I had a chance to leave last year,” Gerrard said. “But I wasn’t tempted. I’ve been through that before.”
The Reds’ captain also took the time to speak about Suarez’s future, saying, “He has a huge decision to make and, as his teammate, I have to show him respect and give him space to make whatever decision he wants to make.”
And finally, reports claim Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Valencia full-back Aly Cissokho.
The story appears to stem from the Sunderland Chronicle, who report on apparent widespread speculation in Spain that the 25-year-old has agreed terms with Brendan Rodgers’ side.
But until the speculation is more widespread we’ll take this one with a pinch of salt.
