How does Gareth Bale's price tag compare to Tottenham's most recent valuation?
'Just a one man team' - That was the chant leveled at Spurs by opposition fans last season in response to Gareth Bale's phenomenal form. but how accurate in financial terms is the jibe?
Real Madrid are aiming to sign the winger, for a fee which would no doubt become a world record breaker in overall value.
One of the latest bids to be suggested is £100 million plus Alvaro Morata, one of the Spanish club's top striking prospects, which would take the overall value of a deal to around £110 million.
So how does this compare to Tottenham's overall valuation? Bale can't possibly be valued more than the entire club can he?
The answer is no he can't but he is apparently worth one-third of Tottenham Hotspur.
The club's latest valuation, made in April 2013 by financial magazine Forbes reads at £332 million. http://www.forbes.com/teams/tottenham-hotspur/
This makes Spurs the 11th most expensive football club in the world according to their rankings, which goes to illustrate just what a commodity Bale has become.
Can you guess who tops the list? Yes you guessed it... Real Madrid.
