Manchester City brushed aside AC Milan in a pre-season friendly yesterday in a stunning 5-3 win, but they were not the only English side to dispatch Serie A opposition.
Everton faced a Juventus side who had new addition Carlos Tevez in the line-up, drawing 1-1 after 90 minutes with Kevin Mirallas on the scoresheet for the Toffees.
The match went to penalties and that is when the real drama started. Leon Osman missed Everton's first spot kick, before Mirallas, Jagielka, Oviedo and Barkley all scored theirs.
It was all down to renowned penalty expert Andrea Pirlo to win the game for Juventus, and the veteran remarkably missed the target.
And so to sudden death, the very next penalty saw Everton youngster John Stones show Pirlo how it was done, with one of the Italian's trademark 'Panenka' chips, delivered with expertise you would expect from a veteran.
After Sheamus Coleman scored his effort for Everton, Tim Howard made a crucial save from newly signed Juventus defender Federico Peluso, to give the Toffees a 6-5 penalty shootout win.
