Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Soldado a medical away and defender deal '99 per cent' claim

Roberto Soldado

All the latest Tottenham Hotspur news.

Tottenham announced earlier today that they have reached an agreement to sign Roberto Soldado from Valencia. All that stands in the way of the 28-year-old joining the club now is a medical, and a deal is expected to be competed within the coming days.

Real Madrid player Kaka has urged Gareth Bale to join him at the club, but there has been no action on a move today, despite the claims of a number of newspapers last night that a deal was close to being agreed for the winger.

If Bale is sold, it is speculated that Spurs will bid £30 million for winger Erik Lamela. The Argentine plays at Roma, former club of Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini.

We have taken a look today at how Bale's potential price tag compares to Tottenham's overall valuation as a club. Can you guess who is valued more highly?

With Steven Caulker sold to Cardiff, we have asked today if Spurs have made a major mistake in allowing the England international to leave so easily. In a separate article we have also discussed whether youngster Milos Veljkovic will be in line to benefit from the centre-back's departure.

The Metro claim Tottenham's move for defender Vlad Chichires is 'back on', according to the player's agent. It stalled last night after a complication involved Steaua Bucharest's owner - who is in jail, and accused Spurs of trying to rush it through.

Ioan Becali, Chichires agent said: "[Roma] have not raised their offer of £5.7m. Tottenham, however, are now up to £7m and have taken the player. It is at 99 per cent certain – it only lacks the signature of the boy, who will arrive soon.’
