A round-up of all the latest Liverpool news.
Reports from Spain claim that Liverpool are frontrunners to sign Atletico Madrid's Brazilian forward Diego Costa. He has a buyout clause of £21.8 million but if Atletico want to cash in it is being speculated they may deal at a lower price. Liverpool's interest is not said to be dependent on Luis Suarez leaving. One report has even claimed the Reds have made a €25 million bid.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has been speaking about potential new additions, stating: "We've got money to spend on getting that quality in but if it's not available I won't waste it for the sake of bringing a player in.
"We're really working hard to bring in the type of profile that can really help us push on."
He also told LFC TV that Raheem Sterling has been impressing him in pre-season, adding that the teenager has 'more personality' and feels he has shown a substantial improvement on this time last summer.
Managing director Ian Ayre has said he is sure Luis Suarez will stay at the club. He said: "It's not (selling him) something we're interested in and, as our fans would expect, we rejected both. The player is not available for sale - that's where we are and that's where we'll stay."
Left-back Jack Robinson has been loaned to Blackpool, increasing speculation the Reds are ready to bring in another player in the position, with Benfica full-back Lorenzo Melgarejo linked over the past few days.
The Star report that Liverpool are to be 'tested' by Barcelona in their resolve to hang onto Daniel Agger, with the Spanish club preparing a bid for the Danish defender. The good news is Agger appears committed to Liverpool and the club have no intention of selling such a key central defender.
Another centre-back Martin Skrtel, is linked with joining former boss Rafael Benitez at Napoli. The Slovakian defender fell out of favour last season at Liverpool and lost his place to the now retired Jamie Carragher.
Southampton youngster Calum Chambers is said to have snubbed Liverpool in order to sign a new deal at the Saints, with the Star previously claiming the Reds had an interest in the player.
