Dzeko has gained more confidence in his abilities under new boss...
Despite competing for attention in a Manchester City squad that also includes strikers such as Alvaro Negredo, Steven Jovetic and fan favourite Sergio Aguero, fringe forward Edin Dzeko is 'confident' heading into the new Premier League campaign as the Bosnian big man has alluded to an on-pitch understanding with top coach Manuel Pellegrini.
'I feel different, better,' said Dzeko, a striker plagued by inconsistency since his switch from Wolfsburg even though he has a 1:2 goals:games ratio. 'I feel I have more confidence, the manager gives me more confidence. That is an important thing,' he added to CityTV.
On the support he received from Pellegrini, who has referred to him as a 'top striker', Dzeko said: 'Of course it is [important]. I think you can see on the pitch how I play.
'I feel different, also because you know someone who is important has trusted you. It is good, for now it is looking good.'
Dzeko cost City £27 million in the winter transfer window, 2011.
