Chelsea transfer news: Xavi talks up Luiz, Valencia approach for Torres

A round up of the latest transfer stories to do with Chelsea.

Barcelona star Xavi has talked up a possible move for Chelsea defender David Luiz.

Former Barca boss Pep Guardiola ruled out Bayern Munich making a move for the defender and some sources have suggested Barcelona will now revitalise their interest in the Brazilian.

“David Luiz seems to be a better player. In the Confederations Cup he was at a spectacular level. It's impossible to overlook his name,” said Xavi.

Valencia have reportedly made an initial enquiry to Chelsea over the possible transfer of striker Fernando Torres.

Valencia apparently see Torres as a replacement for Roberto Soldado who seems destined to make a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur at some point in the very near future.

However, Jose Mourinho said earlier in the summer that he was not thinking of letting any of his big name and experienced players leave the club.

Chelsea youngster Josh McEachran could be heading to Real Sociedad on loan for the new season.

McEachran is unlikely to get a lot of first team football under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge and could be sent to Spain to get regular football and enhance his first team experience.

Chelsea have a superb crop of central midfield players which includes Juan Mata, Oscar, Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, Michael Essien, Kevin De Bruyne, Marco van Ginkel and others who are all ahead of McEachran in the pecking order.
