Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the club are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a deal for Gareth Bale. Real Madrid are thought to have tabled a bid of £85 million for the Welsh winger.
“I believe the club is in talks to find a solution and we will see what happens,” said the Italian.
Kris Commons bagged the only goal as Celtic went 1-0 up against Elfsborg in their Champions League third qualifying round tie. Commons nodded home with just under quarter of an hour remaining giving the Scottish champions a slight advantage heading into the second leg.
England captain Alastair Cook says his side have to learn from their past Ashes mistakes. England are 2-0 up and went ahead in the last two Ashes series before Australia recovered to fight back.
“It is a great opportunity we have but you can't start thinking about anything other than the first hour,” said Cook.
Meanwhile, Australian captain Michael Clarke says his team have the genuine belief that they can still win the series 3-2. Clarke admits that Australia are up against it, with England holding all of the aces and has admitted several people may laugh at his belief that Australia can still regain the Ashes.
Martina Hingis won on her return to competitive tennis action. Hingis was paired with Daniela Hantuchova for a female doubles match in the Southern California Open. The pair defeated Julia Goerges and Darija Jurak with a straight sets victory, by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
