Suarez has indicated he would like to leave Liverpool this summer, but would like to join a Champions League club, which could make a move to Spurs especially unlikely.
Arsenal are the frontrunners for the Uruguayan striker so far, with the Gunners’ expected to wait until there is clarity over the nature of the £40million clause in Suarez’ contract before making a new bid for the 26-year-old.
Spurs could complete two more signings this week, with Valencia striker Roberto Soldado seemingly set to finally seal his move to White Hart Lane, and a deal for Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches now also reportedly close to being finalised.
Spurs will apparently pay £8million for the 23-year-old, who has been described as one of the most exciting young ball-playing defenders in Europe.
Andre Villas-Boas is keen to add some defensive cover to his side due to concerns over Jan Vertonghen and Younes Kaboul’s fitness.
Cardiff have made an £8million bid for Spurs defender Steven Caulker, who is apparently valued at around £12million by the London club.
The 21-year-old is concerned he might not get enough playing time at Spurs, and could go out for a second loan spell in the Premier League, after a successful season at Swansea two years ago.
Stoke are considering a £3million bid for Jermain Defoe, with Mark Hughes apparently keen to reunite Defoe with Peter Crouch.
Spurs have put a £6million price-tag on Defoe, whose wages might also be a concern for Stoke, who are keen to add some firepower this transfer window.
Villas-Boas is keen to add to his attacking resources this summer, but if Soldado completes his move and Spurs also sign another striker, then either Defoe or Emmanuel Adebayor could be allowed to leave.
