Manchester United just won't leave Barcelona alone. They remain consistent in their attempt to try and sign one of their midfielders, having failed to sign Thiago Alcantara and still pushing for Cesc Fabregas.
Goalkeeper David de Gea has been speaking about the club's transfer goals, in an interview with Marca.
He admitted he did his best to convince Spanish under-21 colleague Thiago Alcantara to join him at Old Trafford, but believes he will be a success in Germany.
He said: "Yes, I tried to convince him, but it wasn't to be. He chose to join Bayern, which is a great club, and I'm sure he'll do well there."
So what of Cesc Fabregas?
Well De Gea has no inside track to try to convince the midfielder, even though as with Thiago it proved a failed venture in any case. But he is certainly keen on the prospect of the former Arsenal man joining the club.
"He'll have to make a decision whether to stay at Barcelona or join us. He'd be a great signing as he'd help us improve a lot."
De Gea is not wrong; United's midfield is light despite what may be claimed otherwise if they fail to recruit a new big signing, and Fabregas would provide them with much-needed creativity.
United are claimed to be preparing another bid for Fabregas, having had two rejected, with the player himself yet to state he is not interested in joining the club.
De Gea went onto praise the Premier League, but having spent several seasons with Arsenal, he is likely preaching to the converted.
At the moment it appears United are fighting a losing battle for the midfielder, as Moyes appeared to hint over the past week. If Fabregas did sign at Old Trafford, it would have to go down as one of the most surprising moves of the summer.
