Manchester City ran out 5-3 winners in a victory over AC Milan, a victory which saw them go five goals ahead after just 36 minutes.
David Silva opened the scoring in the fourth minute, before Micah Richards, Aleksandar Kolarov and Edin Dzeko (2) completed the scoring.
Milan pulled three back before half-time, with a brace from Stephane El Shaarawy, to make it eight goals scored in just one half.
Remarkably in that context, 5-3 was how it remained in the second, with the players on both teams easing off the intensity.
The win certainly impressed City new boy Stevan Jovetic, signed from Serie A side Fiorentina in a deal estimated to be around £26 million.
He said: "It's been an incredible game, playing in a big stadium like the Allianz Arena and against a big club like AC Milan, which is one of the best in the world. "
The most important thing was to win and tomorrow we will play to win. I've never seen so many goals in the first half.
"We played very well in the first half an hour doing five goals and we understand that this was the right way."
