Arsenal latest: Including £50m Suarez and Giroud staying

Giroud Arsenal

News and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Arsenal will now have to shell out £50 million at least if they want Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.

The Liverpool striker has been linked with a move to The Emirates for the past month - with two bids being lodged for the star.

But after the player himself acknowledged he has no release clause in his current deal it is understood Liverpool will now be waiting for a bid to exceed the £50 million mark before even considering selling the player.

Arsenal have reportedly rejected a loan offer for striker Olivier Giroud. The offer from Valencia has been rejected by the club as they have no intention of losing the French international - who has had an excellent pre-season campaign.

Valencia are looking for a replacement for Tottenham-bound Roberto Soldado and have targeted Giroud alongside Helder Postiga and Javier Hernandez.

It looks as if yet another reported Arsenal target is set to move elsewhere. Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk have agreed a £22 million fee with Atletico Mineiro for the services of Brazilian international playmaker Bernard.

Bernard is however looking for a move to FC Porto - so Arsenal now seem to be third in line for the player.

Arsenal have also failed in another bid - a bid to build a new skyscraper overlooking their ground in Holloway. The 25-storey tower would have been complete with 400 student bedrooms but it was refused planning permission on Tuesday - after a challenge from Stadium Neighbours Action Group. Another plan falls by the wayside for The Gunners.

One of Arsenal’s former fan favourites has been speaking about his joy at an Emirates return. Emmanuel Eboue may have been questionable talent at times but his bubbly character always made him a popular figure with the Gunners faithful.

Now he cannot wait to return with Galatasaray this weekend.
