Arsenal had appeared the most likely destination for Gonzalo Higuain if he left Real Madrid, that was until Napoli stepped in.
The Italians flush with cash from selling Edinson Cavani, hiked the striker's price up and Arsenal missed out, having apparently switched their gaze to Luis Suarez instead.
Higuain was supposed to be unveiled by Napoli last Friday, but a hitch in the payment agreement between them and Madrid caused it to be delayed, potentially offering Arsenal a faint glimmer of hope with their Suarez bids rebuffed by Liverpool.
But that exists no more, for Higuain was on Monday night presented at the San Paolo in front of 60,000 gathered fans, by owner Aurelio de Laurentiis ahead of their 3-1 friendly win over Galatasaray.
The striker told fans: "I am very happy to be here, hopefully it will be a great season, the team is fantastic and we hope to win something important."
With so many twists and turns in this transfer saga, we always said 'only believe it when you see him pictured in a club shirt being unveiled', so here you are...

Arsenal's failure to sign the striker could come back to haunt them as soon as this weekend, if Higuain is included as expected in their Emirates Cup clash against the Gunners.
Will Arsenal regret not pushing to sign him?
