Tottenham Hotspur will sell Gareth Bale to Real Madrid if the Spanish club come up with £100 million for the player. Bale’s future remains hanging in the balance with the player reportedly keen to leave and Tottenham unwilling to do a deal unless their top end valuation on the winger is met.
This afternoon it also became clear that Real Madrid have made an offer for the player. The bid has reportedly been on the table for a week and is to the value of £85 million.
Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas has piled on the pressure, claiming Bale is one of the best three players in Europe. Real Madrid have never been afraid to utilise players and officials to further unsettle targets, in order to push through deals until they get their main targets.
Spanish sources have claimed that Manchester United will go head-to-head against Real Madrid in a last attempt to sign Bale and try to keep him in England. However, it’s difficult to see how United could spend £100 million on a single player and why Spurs would sell to a rival club.
Turkish club Besiktas have moved one step closer to securing Spurs striker Emmanuel Adebayor. Spurs are reportedly looking to try and get €8 million from the deal. Adebayor is thought to be stalling over the move to see if there is interest from elsewhere, which hasn’t yet materialised.
Fiorentina midfielder Adem Ljajic has hinted he wants to leave the Serie A club. Talks are on-going over a new contract for the 21-year-old but Tottenham could be drawn into making an offer through his reluctance to sign improved terms with the Italian club as he seemingly stalls over the deal.
The Daily Star has suggested Spurs will focus on trying to sign Javier Pastore from Paris Saint-Germain if Gareth Bale leaves the club. However, the fact Pastore cost PSG £36 million in their original deal for the play maker won’t make any deal between the two clubs cheap.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will do battle for VVV Venlo striker Uche Nwofor. The 21-year-old forward scored ten goals in the Dutch top flight last season, which seems to have sparked the interest from the Premier League giants. Newcastle United are also thought to be keeping one eye on his future.
Spurs have also been linked with Steaua Bucharest defender Vlad Chiriches according to TalkSport. The Romanian 23-year-old appears to be on the radar of Andre Villas-Boas, who is keen to add to the defensive reserves of his squad with William Gallas released, Jan Vertonghen injured and Younes Kaboul just back from injury.
Jermain Defoe says he is looking to take his pre-season form into the start of the Premier League campaign. Defoe bagged a hat-trick in Tottenham’s 6-0 thrashing of South China last weekend and he could find himself under severe pressure if the expected transfers relating to Tottenham’s attack all go through.
