5. 1966 - England win the World Cup for the first time since the tournament began in 1930

6. 1974 - Greek, Turkish and UK foreign ministers sign a peace agreement for Cyprus

7. 1991 - Italian tenor Pavorotti celebrates 30 years in opera with a huge, free concert in Hyde Park

8. 2006 - The longest running popular music program, Top Of The Pops, ends after over 40 years

9. 2000 - Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt marry

10. 2001 - Lance Armstrong becomes the first American to win three consecutive Tours de France

11. 2011 - The Queen's granddaughter, Zara Philips, marries rugby player Mike Tindall in Edinburgh
