Transfer news from The Emirates including Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suarez, Alfred Gudmnsson and Santi Cazorla.
It’s official Arsenal are not going to sign Gonzalo Higuain this summer. The Argentine has completed his move to Napoli for an undisclosed fee. He has reportedly signed a five-year deal with the club and was pictured today alongside the clubs effervescent president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Arsenal had been linked with a move for the player in the last three months but their interest soured in light of their Luis Suarez transfer chase. Now the player has finalised a move to the Serie A outfit.
Talking of Suarez and today Arsene Wenger has spoken about their interest in the player for the first time.
"We are ready to do quick deals but all the transfers do not depend only on us. But we are prepared to wait. It looks unlikely before the Emirates Cup. We still have a strong squad but we are there on the market to try to strengthen our team. With or without additions we can be title challengers next season."
Suarez has been the subject of two bids from Arsenal with Liverpool refusing both. However Suarez is said to want the move; with a dream of playing in the Champions League next season. Liverpool are after a fee closer to £55 million for the player; a deal which would easily smash the clubs transfer record.
Santi Cazorla has confirmed he will be going nowhere this summer. The Spanish international has been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in recent weeks but the former Malaga star has stated he is happy at the Emirates and is ‘very unlikely’ to leave for Diego Simeone’s men; although he did say he could return to Spain one day.
Arsenal have been beaten to the signing of talented teenage midfielder Albert Gudmundsson. The 16-year-old is grandson to his namesake who played for Arsenal in the 1940’s and they had been linked with a move for the starlet. However he has signed a three-year deal with Heerenveen from KR Reykjavik.
