“I think we need competition and we welcome the best players in this club," said Ba.
"More competition is going to make me better anyway. All players want to play, not only centre-forwards. We will all work in the same direction, for the club, to try and win the games. I will stay."
Mourinho has echoed Ba’s sentiments, suggesting Fernando Torres should also be pleased to have some extra competition for places at Chelsea, especially after the Spaniard’s heavy workload for the Blues last season.
Jose Mourinho has said he is calm about the progress the club have made towards signing Rooney, who the Chelsea manager has previously indicated is his primary target this summer. Manchester United have so far insisted Rooney is not for sale, although there have been reports they will let the striker leave if they can sign Cesc Fabregas.
Josh McEachran will not be returning to Middlesbrough on loan next season, with the Championship side’s manager Tony Mowbray saying he had adequate cover in his midfield. McEachran, who spent last year at Middlesbrough, is not expected to be part of the Chelsea first team next season, despite being involved in pre-season.
Chelsea have joined a legion of clubs in the hunt for Botafogo defender Doria, and are apparently considering an £8million bid for the 18-year-old. Juventus, Manchester City and Barcelona have all also been linked with Doria, who has been tipped as a future Brazil international.
Fiorentina are reportedly interest in signing Daniele De Rossi, who has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer. Roma will apparently listen to offers of over £10million for the 30-year-old, who has recently been urged to stay at the club by Francesco Totti.
