Gonzalo Higuain was supposed to be unveiled at Napoli this afternoon, but this mysteriously failed to take place.
Had a late snag put the deal at risk?
Arsenal, a club who had trailed him all summer long, could well have been alert if the deal were to suddenly collapse - with their move for Luis Suarez remaining at deadlock.
But any potential hope for Gunners fans has, for now, been snuffed out according to latest reports.
Spanish newspaper AS report that Higuain is simply instead set to be unveiled by Napoli on Monday.
The €37 million fee had been agreed, with it claimed a further €3 million to be paid in variables - dependent on club or player success - still had to be agreed.
But AS have reportedly enquired with Real Madrid who have informed the paper there is no hitch, and the move will go ahead as planned.
Napoli club sources also told the paper crucially, the signing is in no danger.
Higuain is currently in Italy with his father and brother, being mobbed at the airport as he arrived in Naples in midweek.
The nature of the snag could have been misreported, there could be something in his personal terms holding the deal up, with it said that Higuain is yet to put pen to paper on his contract, due to do so before being presented to the press.
Until he is, as they always say, believe it when you see the player holding the shirt. Until then, anything can happen.
