Arsenal latest: Including Wilshere comeback and 'Arabian Messi'

Jack Wilshere

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Arsenal have finished their pre-season tour of Asia with a 2-1 victory over J-League outfit Urawa Red Diamonds in their final tour match. In truth the scoreline did not tell the story of the game; in which Arsenal hit the woodwork on three occasions. Lukas Podolski gave The Gunners the led after 49 minutes but they were pegged back by former Leicester City player Yuki Abe’s strike.

But it was teenage sensation Chuba Akpom who got on the score-sheet yet again. He found the back of the net in the 90th minute to give them victory.

Another positive to take from the game would have been the re-emergence of Jack Wilshere; his first game of pre-season in which he came through unscathed.

Brendan Rodgers has told Luis Suarez he is making a big mistake by wanting to move to Arsenal from Liverpool. He cannot understand why Suarez would want to leave one of the biggest clubs in world football in the form of the Anfield outfit for The Gunners.

However it is believed it is the Uruguayan’s desire to play Champions League football that is his main desire for an exit. We have taken a look ourselves to see if we can understand why he might make such a decision.

Atletico Mineiro have made it clear that Bernard is up for sale; for a cool sum of £25 million. The diminutive playmaker has been linked with several clubs this summer with Tottenham, Liverpool, Shakhtar and Porto said to be interested.

And Mineiro director Eduardo Maluf has made it clear what the price-tag is for their starlet:

‘’The president has already made very clear, if an offer of £25million arrives, he is going to sell and we will buy another player.’'

Reports today also suggest that Arsenal are ready to fight Manchester United for former captain Cesc Fabregas. United have had two bids for the player rejected this summer but Arsenal have a reported £25 million first-refusal clause written into the players contract at Barcelona; giving them the jump in any transfer pursuit.

One player who won’t be at Arsenal next season is Joel Campbell. The Costa Rican was on loan at Real Betis last season but they failed to meet his salary. Instead he will spend 2013-14 in Greece with Olympiakos.

Arsenal are said to be back in the race for Al-Ain playmaker Omar Abdulrahman; dubbed ‘the Arabian Messi’ at least claim the Express. He looked set to complete a move to Manchester City last summer only for Work Permit issues to get in the way and now the Gunners and Barcelona are ready to swoop.
