After Arsenal cheekily decided to offer £40 million plus £1, in an attempt to turn Luis Suarez' head due to a 'talks' clause in his contract, they were quickly shot down by Liverpool owner John Henry.
The American took the unusual step of commenting on transfer policy on Twitter, asking what was being smoked at the Emirates?
His comments caused a mini uproar, being retweeted more than 40,000 times.
Arsenal fans were quick to try and point out that any bids of their own, succesful or not, surely could not compare to the waste of money sanctioned by Henry himself in his early days at Liverpool.
This tweet from an Arsenal fan sums it up perfectly:
Was Henry right to comment the way he did, or should he have kept quiet instead of opening himself to ridicule?
