The Professional Footballer’s Association are working with Newcastle United and Papiss Cisse to try and come to a resolution over the shirt sponsorship dispute at the club. Cisse is refusing to wear the Magpie’s new shirt due to the fact it is sponsored by loans company Wonga, with speculation that Newcastle will have to Senegalese striker this summer.
Newcastle are considering a £10million move for Lyon pair Bafetimbi Gomis and Bakary Kone as they look to step up their transfer business this summer. Striker Gomis has been on the club’s radar for some time, with Alan Pardew recently confirming Newcastle’s interest in the player. Cardiff are also in the running for 25-year-old centre-back Kone, who made 14 Ligue 1 appearances for Lyon last season.
“I’m pushing Joe to get a transfer in,” he said.
“We need a boost now. We’re in a situation where we want to progress.”
Ryan Gosling’s proposed move from Newcastle to Crystal Palace has collapsed, according to the player’s agent David Hodgson. The 23-year-old looked set to join the newly-promoted side this summer, but a lack of communication from Palace has apparently scuppered the deal.
Newcastle are reportedly clear favourites to sign Aston Villa striker Darren Bent after Fulham withdrew from the race due to the 29-year-old’s wage demands. Bent is keen to leave Villa after falling out of favour under Paul Lambert and behind Christian Benteke in the pecking order.
Alan Pardew has said he is unfazed by reports linking Yohan Cabaye with a move away from St James’ Park this summer. PSG, Monaco and Manchester United have all been linked with the French midfielder, but Pardew believes the 27-year-old is focused on the upcoming season with Newcastle United.
