Everton latest: Including no bids for duo, Jelavic interest and Deulofeu error

Everton Goodison Aerial

News and gossip from the past week at Goodison Park.

Everton have confirmed that there has not yet been any bids for the clubs two star players Leighton Baines and Maraoune Fellaini. The announcement, made via the clubs official Twitter account, contradicts previous claims that Manchester United had bid for Baines and Arsenal for Fellaini from differing outlets this summer. However The Toffees deny any knowledge of these offers.

Everton have made a big mistake in regards to their new signing Gerard Deulofeu. Now did you notice the spelling of the second name, Deulofeu, not Deufoleu as it was spelt on a shirt printed in the Everton megastore.

Tim Howard is happy with the arrival of new stopper Joel Robles from Atletico Madrid; and welcomed the extra competition it will bring to the goalkeeping department next season.

‘’In order to go on and achieve great things as a club, you need to have quality in numbers. I think that’s part and parcel of football nowadays. I don’t think anyone’s fearful of competition, I don’t think there are any issues. You just get on with your job.’’

Hamburg are keen on signing Nikica Jelavic from Everton. The Croatian struggled to reach the form of his first season at the club in 2012-13 and it is reported that Roberto Martinez could be tempted to let him go at the right price.

Everton have followed up the professional deal handed to Chris Long last week by handing one to Conor Grant this. The 18-year-old penned a two-year deal on Wednesday and the player was obviously delighted at the decision:

“As a boy you dream of being a professional footballer and for the day to finally come, it is a dream come true. At a club like Everton, who I’ve grown up watching and supporting, it’s a dream.’’

Everton have been linked with Philipp Hosiner this week. The Austria Vienna striker banged in the goals left-right-and-centre last season; netting 27 goals in 27 games and has been compared to Michael Owen in playing style.

Everton are also being linked with Juventus striker Alessandro Matri. Reports in Italy suggest that Everton are ready to start a bidding war for the talented forward.

Everton striker Conor McAleny will play for Brentford for a month. The 20-year-old has signed a one-month deal at Griffin Park; with the hope that he could play for a much longer period of time.
