Liverpool transfer news: Liverpool reject new cheeky Suarez offer from Arsenal

All of the latest transfer stories connected to Liverpool.

Liverpool have been left insulted as Arsenal upped their offer for Luis Suarez to £40 million and £1.

Liverpool have rejected every approach the Gunners have made so far for the striker, with Brendan Rodgers believing the player to be worth around the £55 million mark.

The cocky £40,000,001 bid was reportedly designed to test a clause in Suarez’s Liverpool contract concerning bids of over the £40 million mark, but it was instantly dismissed by bemused Liverpool officials.

Liverpool transfer target Jackson Martinez has ruled out the possibility of leaving FC Porto.

Martinez has been linked with Liverpool for several months but the Porto seem reluctant to let the Colombian forward leave having already seen several key players join AS Monaco.

The player’s agent confirmed in A Bola that it’s his intention to talk through new terms with Porto over a deal to keep him at the Portuguese club.

Liverpool continue to be linked with a £10-12 million deal for Palermo midfielder Josip Ilicic.

The Slovenian star was the standout performer for his club last season, despite not being able to help them stay in the top division of Italian football.

However, the club’s chances of getting him hang in the balance as his agent said just before the start of summer that the chance to stay in Italy would take preference.
