Mamadou Sakho may just be the perfect solution for both Liverpool and Arsenal when it comes to adding to their defensive options.
The Frenchman is available for under £10 million from PSG and at 23-years-old is an exciting prospect.
He was even the PSG captain at one stage, but having seen the club splash out in consecutive seasons on Brazilian centre-backs Thiago Silva and last week Marquinhos, it appears his days could be numbered.
That very point was put to him by L'Equipe reporters during his pre-season training in Sweden with the club, and he revealed he has made a decision on his future.
But in true cryptic footballer fashion, he isn't saying what it is. Yet.
He said: "I am quiet in my head. I work. I made this pre-season preparation in a very professional way. I was waiting to talk with the coach and the president, Nasser al-Khelaïfi. Now that it's done in my head, everything is clear. We will see in the near future which will be my decision. Just know that it stems from a logical result of these discussions."
Asked point blank if he was staying or going, he still refused to be drawn;
"I will speak when the time comes."
Drawing from this, clearly a decision will be imminent, what he is waiting for is another matter. Having already spoken to manager Laurent Blanc and PSG's president, if it was a case of him staying surely he is simply saying so.
It would appear perhaps he is awaiting a formal offer from clubs which have instructed his agent of their interest.
Could that be Arsenal or Liverpool? Both sides are presently engaged in the Luis Suarez transfer battle, but could welcome the prospect of adding a new player instead.
With Arsenal having Vermaelen and Koscielny recently laid low by injury, and Liverpool only replacing Jamie Carragher with old pro Kolo Toure, a young ambitious face like Sakho could be just what each club need right now.
