Liverpool owner John Henry has questioned Arsenal’s £40 million plus £1 bid for striker Luis Suarez. Henry took to his Twitter account to ask “What do you think they're smoking over there at Emirates?” Arsenal have now had two bids for the striker rejected by Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas says the club are counting on star player Gareth Bale to stay. Fresh reports from Spanish press sources have suggested Bale has agreed a six-year deal with Real Madrid who have been very public in their pursuit of the Welshman so far.

Carl Froch will defend his IBF and WBA world super-middleweight titles against George Groves this winter. The fight is due to take place in late November or early December and the 36-year-old says Groves will face the very best and he’s looking forward to defending his titles.

Former Australian fast bowler Jeff Thomson has called his country’s batting embarrassing. Australia were bowled out for under 130 in the first innings of the second Ashes Test match at Lords, which setup the win for England, moving them 2-0 ahead in the series.

Lance Armstrong has called for a lawsuit against him from the US government to be dismissed. The suit suggested that Armstrong has defrauded the public by suggesting he was not using drugs during his Tour de France victories. He was stripped of all titles after admitting to doping.
