Manchester United manager David Moyes' apparent willingness to listen to offers for skilled forward Nani has ensured there has been no shortage of admirers for the Portuguese player, 26. Fellow Premier League club Arsenal, together with Italian giants Roma and Juventus have all been associated with making a bid for the acrobatic winger but it is only cash-laden French side Monaco who have made their pursuit official.
According to tabloid reports, Nani is currently in Monaco ready to have talks with the club who have already spent big on a recruitment policy that includes the £52 million purchase of Radamel Falcao, the £39m capture of James Rodriguez, the £21m prising of Joao Moutinho, the signing of Jeremy Toulalan and the free transfers of Eric Abidal and Ricardo Carvalho.
Swapping the rain-soaked streets of Manchester for the Ferrari and Maserati-lined hair-pin bends at Monaco may appear appealing for a player whose Old Trafford career has stalled somewhat in the past season.
A combination of injuries and bad form saw him sidelined in 2012/13 but, prior to that, he either scored or assisted in 18 times from 24 starts in 2011/12, was voted player of the year by his United peers the year before, and scored or assisted ten times from 19 starts in 2009.
Should Nani agree personal terms with Monaco, United will likely receive an £8.5m sum.
