Tottenham Hotspur latest: Including Soldado and Chadli promise

All the latest Tottenham Hotspur news and gossip.

Talk linking Roberto Soldado with a move to Tottenham Hotspur is hotting up. Director of football Franco Baldini is said to have flown to Spain to negotiate with Valencia.

A price tag of £18 million has been mentioned, but it could yet rise depending on involvement from other clubs, with Liverpool claimed to be interested. However the Mail's report should perhaps be taken with a pinch of salt, considering their mangled transfer targets - they claimed Spurs failed in a move for Christian Damiao(!)

Sky Sports have confirmed that Valencia want the situation sorted by August 3, as they seek to make plans ahead of next season.

Valencia manager Miroslav Djukic said this evening he expects Soldado to stay, saying he believes the club will stick to his €30 million buyout clause: "I do not believe that any club will pay Soldado's buy-out clause, what I think is that he will stay with us, although I cannot guarantee anything. In football and in life you have to be prepared for anything.

"We all want him to stay and we think that he will, but it is possible that someone could actually meet that buy-out clause even I do not think that will happen. For now, he is our player and we are counting on him."

Meanwhile Italian club Napoli are also said to be interested in rivaling Spurs with a bid for the striker.

Club president Amadeo Salvo said earlier today: "The message we have to give is that we need tranquillity. If Soldado leaves in the near future, near to the end of the transfer window, we will have to find a replacement."

Spurs clinched a deal for Nacer Chadli yesterday, and we have taken a look at 10 facts about the Belgian international. Andre Villas-Boas has been bullish after signing him, insisting the club will carry on spending to give themselves the best possible chance of success next season.

He said: "We will continue to do our transfer business and we have not stopped yet, for sure."

Michael Dawson says he expects Gareth Bale to continue to ignore rumours linking him with Manchester United and Real Madrid, and push on with Tottenham next season.

He said: "Gaz is a great lad, he keeps his head down and the way he has been playing, he is going to have speculation. His performances in recent years have been brilliant and that’s what happens. He’ll concentrate and do what he does for Tottenham and hopefully keep scoring goals."

And finally, former Spurs man Wilson Palacios is being linked with a switch to re-join Steve Bruce at Hull City.
