Arsenal's link with Brazilian sensation Bernard has come as one of the more surprising of the transfer window, with the attacker seemingly set for Porto.
The playmaker is expected to leave Atletico Mineiro this summer, where he plays alongside Ronaldinho, with Spurs and Liverpool also credited with interest.
Last Friday, a Brazilian journalist claimed Arsenal had struck a deal for the player, but this has yet to be confirmed, but British newspapers did pick up on the interest reporting that the Gunners were in talks for the player.
Now developments have taken another turn, with French newspaper L'Equipe claiming Bernard will sign imminently with Arsenal, with a medical even schedule for Friday.
They write: "The young Brazilian international, who attended the last Confederations Cup, is expected Friday to London to undergo a medical with the Gunners. Brazilian sources, he must sign a five-year contract that pays him € 3 million net of taxes per year...Thursday he will fly to England."
Arsenal fans may recall that L'Equipe's rival Le Parisien claimed last year the club were also on the verge of signing Yann M'Vila, which turned out to be untrue, so this one may not exactly be done and dusted just yet.
Their sources, unnamed, are in Brazil and it is very possible they are basing developments on the same journalist who broke the story last week, Alexandre Oliviera. If he is wrong then so likely are L'Equipe.
Any deal is complicated by Bernard being owned by third parties.
Do you see this one coming off? What do you make of it?
