Chelsea transfer news: Blues will up Rooney offer, possible return for club legend

Wayne Rooney Free Kick

All of the latest transfer stories connected to Chelsea.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to significantly increase their offer for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

The Blues had a bid for the player rejected last week with some papers suggesting Jose Mourinho is ready to go as high as £40 million to sign the forward.

Rooney has been constantly linked with a move away from Old Trafford with his role and future under David Moyes unclear.

Chelsea could offer Didier Drogba a player-coaching role in a bid to try and get him back to the club.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on Drogba returning to Stamford Bridge with one-year currently remaining on his deal with Turkish club Galatasaray.

Mourinho will apparently offer Drogba the chance to work on his coaching badges, eventually earning a position at Chelsea, while also filling in as an important squad player.

Chelsea are considering sending 19-year-old full back Wallace on loan to La Liga for next season.

The Blues are thought to be keen on the player getting extra first team experience, with Spain an obvious destination considering the style of play in the country’s top league.

Wallace has also been linked with a switch to Serie A with Roma, which also remains a strong possibility.
