It was the sight Real Madrid fans never expected to see again, Gonzalo Higuain scoring for the club.
When he netted in his final game of the season in La Liga, he barely celebrated, an indication his enthusiasm for his future at the club had gone.
Yet despite an ongoing transfer saga dragged out over the past two months, the Argentine remains a Real Madrid player and appears open to staying under Carlo Ancelotti.
Madrid have reportedly upped their transfer fee for the striker, with conflicting reports claiming Italian side Napoli may have or may have not met that price.
As for the player himself, he was included with Madrid's traveling squad for the first part of their pre-season, a friendly away to newly promoted Championship side Bournemouth.
Higuain found himself left out of the starting XI, perhaps a worrying sign of things to come, but made his entrance at half-time as one of several changes, with Madrid already 3-0 up.
And the striker instantly showed just how lethal he is, scoring in the 46th minute with his first touches to put his side 4-0 up.
If his suitors needed any convincing of his talent, that was it, or indeed Madrid persuasion in keeping him.
Whether it will be Arsenal, Napoli, or Madrid he is playing for next season of course remains unclear, but the striker will just be glad to be back on the pitch away from all the speculation.
