Brendan Rodgers and Luis Suarez are expected to have sit-down talks over the players future imminently. Rodgers dismissed some claims that the Uruguayan striker has gone AWOL and instead ensured reporters that the 26-year-old was on a plane to Australia and would be meeting up with the rest of the team in Melbourne; despite his transfer wish.
Suarez reportedly wants Champions League football and has been linked with Arsenal and Real Madrid in recent weeks but Liverpool remain keen on keeping hold of the player.
Rodgers did however confirm that Pepe Reina is on his way out of the club:
"I've a lot of time for Pepe," Rodgers said. "He has a big season with the World Cup.
"If he wasn't going to be playing, it could severely harm his chances of going."
Chelsea have rejected Liverpool’s initial approach for 23-year-old England international left-back Ryan Bertrand. With Ashley Cole signing a new one-year deal at Stamford Bridge it was believed Bertrand could be tempted into an exit due to what will likely be another season on the bench in a World Cup year.
However Bertrand is said to be determined on staying and becoming the number one left-back for the club and Chelsea have knocked back Liverpool’s initial enquiry.
Finally, and it appears Liverpool are prepared to allow promising youngster Conor Coady the chance to shine out on loan. The England youngster is expected to join Sheffield United on a six-month loan deal in the coming days.
David Weir, the new Blades boss, believes that the 20-year-old will be an excellent addition to the side and was thankful of Brendan Rodgers for facilitating the move.
Coady is 20-years-old and can play at both the heart of defence as well as the centre of midfield nd has captained England at youth level.
He has also featured for Liverpool in the Europa League and is a big prospect for the future; they will hope this deal is the making of him.
