Five Manchester United players who could surprise us next season

Javier Hernandez

Which players at Old Trafford could exceed expectations next season?

Every season there is a select group of players who just surprise you for all the right and wrong reasons.

Manchester United have a new boss this term and that in itself is something of a shock; but which five players could surprise us at Old Trafford this season?

Alex Buttner

The Dutchman is by and large the back-up option to Patrice Evra but every time the former Vitesse player has got out on to the pitch the left-back has looked impressive.

His swashbuckling and attacking style is perhaps more expansive then that of Evra; although the Frenchman offers far more consistency defensively.

He is far more alike to one of Moyes’ Everton stars Leighton Baines and he might just get more first-team opportunities as a consequence; that’s if they don’t sign Baines anyway.

Javier Hernandez

With Wayne Rooney being strongly linked with a move away from the club and no apparent replacement being lined up the Mexican could finally find himself bumped up the order this term.

The striker is obviously a natural born goalscorer and given more frequent opportunities he could put 20 away this term.

Nani

The Portuguese winger has been consistently linked with a move away from the club with his contract expiring in 2014.

But so far nothing has happened and Nani has been sitting out pre-season injured. If he sticks around there is no doubt he is talented and will have an impact at the club; and with employment on the agenda in the summer he might have to be at his best to find a new club.

Shinji Kagawa

The Japanese international struggled with injury last term and United fans never quite managed to see him in full flow.

United fans know about his talent so there will be no surprise if he has a good season but I think the surprise might be just how good a season that ends up being; PFA Player of the Year good is what I am getting at.

Wayne Rooney

The biggest surprise of all would be if the England international was still at the club.

He clearly is disillusioned at Old Trafford and Chelsea are keen on a move for the player. Moyes says that he is not for sale and if that proves correct it will interesting to see how he reacts next season.

Because a fired up Rooney can be impossible to handle.

Which of these players will have the biggest impact next season?
