Former Manchester United starlets score seven of Fiorentina's nine between them

Giussepe Rossi and Adem Ljajic, who would have been a United player were it not for Work Permit issues, were both on fire for Fiorentina today.

Are you someone who likes a flutter; a cheeky bet when it comes to football? If you are then I have to say my top tip for the season would be to put a cheeky tenner on Fiorentina winning the Serie A title.

Sure they have lost Stevan Jovetic but they have also brought in Mario Gomez; who guarantees goals.

But on top of that next season they will also have two former Manchester United starlets in support of the front-man.

Giussepe Rossi was signed from Villarreal in January but he took the last six months of the season to fully recover from his horrific spell of injuries.

Adem Ljajic on the other hand may have never become a formal Manchester United player but that was only ever down to work permit issues. After a year training intermittently with the Old Trafford club he was refused entry by the Home Office and United pulled the plug on a deal.

Last season the young Serbian was incredible for La Viola and with his contract set to expire in 2014 he was linked with several teams across Europe including Manchester City, Zenit St Petersburg and AC Milan.

But it is reported he signed a new deal at the club this week which will keep him in Florence until 2017.

And this afternoon the former Manchester United starlets were well and truly on fire as Fiorentina thrashed Trentino 9-0.

It was a game of two halves for two players; the players being Rossi and Ljajic.

Rossi wasted little time getting the party started; opening the scoring in the first minute. Manuel Pasqual made it 2-0 before Rossi grabbed two more goals; one set-up by new-boy Joaquin and the other a superb solo effort.

Rossi then came off at half-time with the score at 4-0 and his hat-trick doing the most damage.

Then it was Ljajic’s turn and he was rewarded for his new deal by captaining the side.

He bagged four goals in the second half including an excellent free-kick and an individual effort of his own with another new signing Olexander Iakovenko scoring to make it 9-0 to Fiorentina.

The two former United protégés bagged seven of the nine goals as Fiorentina cantered to victory and if these two can link up with Mario Gomez next season Fiorentina could have one of the most impressive attacking forces on the continent.

Can Ljajic and Rossi inspire Fiorentina to glory?
