Rumours abounded that Benteke, who handed in a transfer request last week, may boycott the session in order to force a move from Villa; who remain reluctant to let him leave Villa Park.
But he has shown a degree of professionalism by deciding to turn up rather than cause any further controversy by going AWOL.
But the likelihood is that Benteke is to leave the club this summer.
He has been labelled with a £20 million price-tag, which has been called steep by some, but considering he scored 23 goals in 39 games last season and is only 22-years-old Villa will manage to convince somebody to part with that cash.
And Benteke is not the only striker wanting a summer exit from Paul Lambert’s team.
Darren Bent struggled for first-team football under Lambert and it was clear that the £18 million striker was not Paul Lambert’s favourite player.
Newcastle United have been the team most strongly linked with snapping up Bent.
Alan Pardew has made absolutely no secret of his admiration for Bent, with whom he worked at Charlton Athletic, and reports have even suggested a deal could be done by the end of next week.
But could Villa turn this into a more profitable situation on their part.
Newcastle United of course also have an unhappy striker at the club.
Papiss Cisse has boycotted the clubs tour of Portugal on religious grounds; as he refuses to wear kit emblazoned with new sponsor Wonga.
Cisse felt that promoting the pay-day loan company would contravene his Islamic beliefs and the Senegalese striker’s future with the Toon looks very bleak.
Could Villa ask for Cisse as part of any Bent deal?
While Cisse may not have been firing on all cylinders last campaign remember when he first arrived? He was absolutely unstoppable.
At 28-years-old he may not fit the Paul Lambert bill but he is settled with his English girlfriend and may consider staying in the Premier League.
The top teams appear to have lost interest in the player and Villa could swoop in to have Cisse as their ultimate replacement for Benteke.
Unlikely yes; but not impossible.
Would you like to see Cisse at Villa next season?
