While all the focus is currently on the new players Tottenham Hotspur will hope to bring in this summer, there are several players already at the club who might be ready to make a bigger impact on the side than they did last season.
Amongst them are Gyfli Sigurdsson, who arrived last summer, and Lewis Holtby, who was signed in January. Both players had their moments for Spurs last season, with Sigurdsson in particular impressing towards the end of last season, but each will know their best is yet to come at White Hart Lane.
This might lead to limited chances for Holtby and Sigurdsson, but their is an absence of slight creativity in that proposed midfield that will mean they both have a role to play at the head of midfield trio, or playing just behind a central striker.
Which of them will make the bigger impact on the side is a difficult question. Holtby has the slightly better all round game that could make him more comfortable in a midfield trio, but Sigurdsson is a bigger goal threat than the German.
The Icelandic international was expected to drop further down the pecking order when Holtby arrived in January, but instead responded to start producing his best form of the season to almost help fire Spurs into the Champions League places.
With Sigurdsson 23, and Holtby 22, both men have plenty of time to develop into excellent players for Spurs in the next few seasons, but they will know that they need to make an impact sooner rather than later to avoid being written off.
Holtby has the slightly bigger reputation of the pair after his exploits for Schalke, but Sigurdsson might have the edge within the Spurs set up following his fine end of season form. Both players are not only competing with each other but also the powerhouse trio of Sandro, Dembele and Paulinho, but they have the talent to become as important to the team as anyone, and next season it will be interesting to see how each of them performs.
Spurs fans, who do you think will make the bigger impact: Lewis Holtby or Gyfli Sigurdsson? Or will they have little opportunity following the arrival of Paulinho?
