Teenager Bruno Gomes is a player Manchester United fans will know well, having followed his progress in Brazil over the course of his short career so far.
He plays for developmental side Desportivo Brasil, recently earning a call-up to the national under-17 side.
Manchester United have a first option deal on his contract, which crucially only exists at a certain price, meaning rivals clubs can still land a higher offer for him.
His age means he can only move abroad at 18, next summer, and earlier this year it was speculated he would join up with Manchester United on their pre-season tour.
Gomes hit the headlines by scoring a stunning seven goals in one game a couple of months back, and last summer visited Old Trafford and met with Sir Alex Ferguson and Wayne Rooney.
He just last month tweeted that he dreams of being top scorer at Manchester United, writing: "My friends, I dream of wearing a red shirt since 2011, of course I want to make history as 1st Brazilian top score of the premier league!!!"
But this evening he has thrown potential doubt on a deal, by nature of a cryptic tweet posted on his Twitter page:
Life is pretty crazy when we think everything is right and we go to a path,we find that this is not and we go another route! This is football— Bruno Gomes (@B9oficial) July 17, 2013
As for what it all means, it's early days, and could be a multitude of scenarios, but it is easy to draw the conclusion his plans to move to United may have hit a snag.
If he ends up elsewhere, and it transpires United have blown the deal, there may just be a lot of angry fans unhappy with the club.
