Everton latest: Including Martinez's first win and £15m McManaman valuation

News and gossip from the past week at Goodison Park.

Everton romped to their first pre-season fixture victory on Wednesday.

Everton won the game against their League Two opposition 4-1 with goals from Darron Gibson, Victor Anichebe, Kevin Mirallas and Leon Osman proving enough for victory.

It followed a 2-1 defeat in their first game against Austria Vienna earlier in the week; in which Apostolos Vellios was the goal-scorer.

Everton are also remaining positive about the future of Leighton Baines and Maraoune Fellaini. Martinez believes that despite the mass speculation linking the duo with a Goodison Park exit this summer that the two are going to stay with Everton for the upcoming season.

It came in the same week as the deadline on Maraoune Fellaini’s release clause became evident. Any club after a cut-price Fellaini will need to bid before August 14th.

It is reported that Roberto Martinez has also redesigned the clubs pre-season regime. He has discarded the old fitness regimes that Moyes reportedly used whilst manager at the club in favour of more ball work as he looks to install his philosophy on the team.

Everton will have to pay over £10 million to get hold of Callum McManaman this summer. The former Toffees youngster had an excellent campaign at the DW Stadium in 2012-13 and has therefore been linked with a double reunion. However his price-tag of £15 million could present a stumbling block.

Everton have handed teenage striker Chris Long his first professional football contract. The 18-year-old, who recently represented England at the World Under-20 Championships in Turkey, has signed a two-year deal and has one goal in his time at the club:

"It would be the best thing ever. If I could score a goal at the Gwladys Street, I would be ecstatic.’’

On the site this week we have taken a look at how Everton would replace Fellaini in the event of his exit - and if they even could.

We also contemplate whether Joel Robles will be the number one stopper at the club next season ahead of Tim Howard and whether fans would welcome back Diniyar Bilyaletidinov seeing he is available on a cheap deal this summer.
