The last straw for Joey Barton at QPR?

Joey Barton Interview

Joey Barton may not be amused by talk linking Karl Henry with a switch to Loftus Road.

Joey Barton is reluctantly back in training with Queens Park Rangers, after this time last year being ostracised by the management following his sending off and subsequent aggressive behaviour on the final day of the 2011/12 season.

He spent last season on loan with Marseille, a club he would go back to in a heartbeat if the opportunity came along.

It's likely Barton never stops checking his phone to see if an offer has come in for his services, and one of the most recent QPR transfer rumours will not have averted that.

The R's have been linked with signing Karl Henry of Wolves, a player he had a high profile run-in with during the 2010/11 season while at Newcastle.

He was clattered several times by the midfielder, with the row continued into the following season when he joined QPR when the sides met, during the game and in the press, with Barton labelling Henry an 'idiot', insisting on calling him Kelvin Henry.

He said: "Kelvin Henry - he loves it, doesn't he, always sticking his foot in and trying to hurt people. Why doesn't he do it when it is 0-0 in the game?

"He is chirping up all week saying he is going to do x,y and z to me and then he lets himself down massively by not even turning up on Saturday afternoons. He should concentrate more on playing and less on talking a good game."

They say time is a healer, but it's likely the bad blood between the two is a rift too sore to heal. It's very tricky to see the pair playing side by side week-in week-out for QPR, and Harry Redknapp would surely be crazy to try and manage such a combustible scenario.

Henry is currently stranded in League One with Wolves after their relegation last season, and if QPR did make a move, we'd guess it might just be the final straw as far as Joey Barton is concerned.
