Real Madrid may be about to launch a bid for Luis Suarez after failing to tempt Gareth Bale away from Tottenham Hotspur. The Spanish side have been linked with Suarez for several months but an official bid is yet to be made by Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Atletico Mineiro over the sale of 20-year-old Bernard. The Brazilian is a player who has been tracked by several top European sides, but reports are suggesting Liverpool are preparing a £20 million offer to try and seal a deal.

Dutch side Feyenoord have confirmed their interest in signing out of favour Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi. FC Twente are also thought to be interested but Feyenoord boss Ronald Koeman says he hopes a good deal can be agreed before the start of the new season.

Midfielder Stewart Downing says he is determined to stay at Liverpool and fight for his place. Downing says he has no desire to leave the club and believes the links to West Ham only came about because he was told he could leave Anfield in the last winter transfer window.

Striker Daniel Sturridge says the ultimate aim for the club is to challenge for the Premier League title. While he admits it will be difficult for Liverpool to win the league immediately, Sturridge doesn’t see any reason why Liverpool can’t work their way towards becoming regular title contenders.

Lille full back Lucas Digne is closing on a £12 million switch to Paris Saint-Germain. Liverpool were thought to be very keen on the defender but reports suggest he’s set to have a medical with PSG, which would be the final nail in Liverpool’s chances of pouncing should any deal fall through.

Ian Ayre has suggested Brendan Rodgers needed a season to settle into life at Liverpool. The club’s managing director says he thinks Rodgers was overwhelmed by the pressure, size and expectation when he first took over at Anfield but feels the best is yet to come from Rodgers.

Luis Suarez has starred in a bizarre new advert in Uruguay. The striker seems to be taking the Mickey out of himself, losing his temper with a photocopier and coffee machine, poking fun at all of the negative stereotypes linked to him inside English football.

Liverpool midfielder Raheem Sterling has created quite a talking point with his new hairstyle. Pictures of his new hairstyle are doing the rounds on Twitter with the teenager now unable to keep a low profile heading into the new season. Check out the picture here.
