A select round up of the latest news stories from across the world of sport.

Wayne Rooney could be heading for a Manchester United exit after David Moyes hinted that he saw the striker as a back up player. Reports are suggesting Rooney has been left angry and confused by the suggestion he isn’t seen as a primary striker at the club.

Tiger Woods says he is unconcerned by a recent elbow injury and is raring to go ahead of the Open. There had been doubts over the world number one’s fitness heading into the major but he insists he feels good and is ready for the first of four very important rounds.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho feels the club’s owner Roman Abramovich has outwitted the club’s main Premier League rivals. Mourinho has suggested that the recent cash the Russian has spent has been on players, which will form the spine of the side over several seasons to come.

Former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has said England are reliant on seamer James Anderson. Anderson took ten wickets during the first Ashes Test match at Trent Bridge as England went 1-0 up and Gilchrist says he’s the only bowler in England’s side who the Aussies are petrified of.

Reigning 100 metres world champion Yohan Blake will not defend his title in August after withdrawing from the event in Moscow due to a hamstring problem. Blake has been carrying the problem since April and has not run in a competitive 100 metres race this year.
