Notts County 1-3 Galatasaray
League side Notts County hosted Galatasaray, almost holding the Champions League quarter-finalists to a memorable and highly creditable 1-1 draw. There was pure joy for fans when Enoch Showunmi put the hosts ahead on 55 minutes, only for the Turkish club's prolific marksman Burak Yilmaz to net an 80th minute equaliser, but Wesley Sneijder scored a late winner to break the hearts of supporters.
Heerenveen 2-1 Oud-Heverlee
Dutch side Heerenveen won out 2-1 winners over their Belgian opponents. The winning goal was scored by Icelandic striker Alfred Finbogasson, linked with West Ham, Aston Villa, and previously Everton.
Swindon Town 1-1 Tottenham Hotspur
Gareth Bale scored a first half goal in his return to action for Tottenham against Swindon, lashing the ball into the top corner from the edge of the area, but it was not enough to earn them victory in Wiltshire, pegged back by a 76th minute equaliser from Andrew Williams.
Motherwell 2-4 Newcastle United
Newcastle did not let a lack of summer spending so far prevent them beating SPL side Motherwell. Goals were scored by Haris Vuckic, Moussa Sissoko, Yoann Gouffran and Sylvain Marveaux, while former Everton man James McFadden netted for the hosts.
Port Vale 3-5 Derby
Championship side Derby County emerged winners in an entertaining battle with Port Vale, scoring eight goals between them. Port Vale had gone 3-1 up before the Championship side fought back to claim a 5-3 result.
Colchester 0-2 West Ham
